Spacecraft/module Progress M-NM launched towards ISS

November 24, 2021

Today, November 5, 2021 at 16:06:36 Moscow Time, a launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1b lifted-off from Launch Pad No.31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, carrying the Cargo Transportation Spacecraft-Module (CTSCM) Progress M-NM designed to deliver the Node Module (NM) Prichal to the International Space Station (ISS).

According to telemetry data, 9 minutes 23 seconds after the lift-off the spacecraft normally separated from the third stage of the launch vehicle, deployed radio systems antennas and solar array panels of the onboard power supply system. After insertion into a parking orbit, the Lead Operations Control Team for the ISS Russian Segment at the Mission Control Center at Korolev took over the supervision of its mission.

The free flight of the Progress M-NM spacecraft-module with the NM Prichal will follow a two-day rendezvous profile, and on November 26, 2021, it will culminate in the docking to the nadir docking port of the multi-purpose laboratory module Nauka of the ISS Russian Segment. The docking is to be performed in automatic mode under supervision of Mission Control specialists and the Russian crew members of the ISS cosmonauts Peter Dubrov and Anton Shkaplerov.

The multi-purpose Node Module Prichal developed and built by S.P.Korolev RSC Energia is designed to augment the engineering and operational capabilities of the ISS Russian Segment orbital infrastructure. The module is also to deliver onboard the ISS about 700 kg of various cargoes, including replacement hardware and consumables, water purification, medical monitoring and hygienic equipment, maintenance and repair tools, as well as a container with food rations for the crew of Expedition 66.
