November 20, 2021

The final stage of preparations of the prime and backup crews of the manned transportation spacecraft (MTS) Soyuz MS-20 for a 12-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS) under the contract with the Space Adventures has begun at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Today the crews' first fit check check inspection of Soyuz MS-20 in a flight configuration was performed at the processing facility of Site 254. According to the work schedule the cosmonauts and spaceflight participants performed a fit-check of their rescue spacesuits, tested them for leakage and took their seats in the spacecraft. The crews checked the support equipment, got familiar with the onboard documentation and cargoes to be delivered to the ISS. Further activities of the crew commanders at the cosmodrome include practice drills in the manual approach of the spacecraft to the ISS, practicing ballistic operations and other preparatory procedures.

The prime crew of Soyuz MS-20 consists of commander Alexandr Misurkin (Roscosmos) and spaceflight participants President of the Start Today Corporation Yusaku Maezawa and his personal assistant Yozo Hirano. Their backups are Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexandr Skvortsov and Shun Ogiso. The launch of Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle carrying Soyuz-MS-20 is scheduled for December 8, 2021.
