Soyuz MS-20 Solar Array Check

November 15, 2021

At the integration and test facility of Site 254 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome preparations continue for the launch of the manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-20. Specialists from RSC Energia and Space Center Yuzhny completed a scheduled operation of check insolation for the solar arrays of the spacecraft power supply system.

The functional check of the solar array panels involves a standard deployment of photovoltaic sections and their artificial insolation with powerful lamps to take test measurements of parameters of the electric circuits of solar power converters. In addition, installation of special-purpose equipment and crew personal equipment is being completed in the spacecraft descent module and habitable compartment.

The launch of Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle carrying Soyuz-MS-20 is scheduled for December 8, 2021. The flight to the International Space Station will last 12 days under the contract with the Space Adventures. The commander of the prime crew is Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin, Yusaku Maezawa, President of the Start Today Corporation, and Yozo Hirano, Maezawa Yusaku's personal assistant, were assigned as flight participants of the prime crew.
