Vacuum Tests of spacecraft Soyuz MS-20 began at Baikonur

November 5, 2021

Prelaunch processing of the manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-20 is in good progress at Site 254 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Today, the spacecraft was transported to the vacuum chamber of the processing facility for leak tests.

Upon completion of the processing operations specialists from RSC Energia and core enterprises of Roscosmos transported and loaded spacecraft Soyuz MS-20 to the cradle of vacuum chamber 17523. A pneumatic vacuum test cycle is intented for qualitative ground leak check of the spacecraft and its onboard systems.

The launch of Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle carrying Soyuz-MS-20 is scheduled for December 2021. The flight to the International Space Station will last 12 days under the contract with the Space Adventures. The commander of the prime crew is Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin, and Yusaku Maezawa, President of the Start Today Corporation, and Yozo Hirano, Maezawa Yusaku's personal assistant, were assigned as flight participants to the prime crew.
