April 8, 2021

The State Commission for conducting flight tests of manned space systems has approved the primary and backup crews of Soyuz MS-18. In addition to this, the readiness of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle and the ground infrastructure for the launch under the program of ISS-65/66 Expeditions to the International Space Station has been confirmed.

The prime crew consists of commander leg Novitskiy (Roscosmos), flight engineer 1 Petr Dubrov (Roscosmos) and flight engineer 2 Mark Vande Hei (NASA). Their backups are Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov, Oleg Artemiev and NASA astronaut Anne McClain.

After the session of the State Commission, a pre-launch online videoconference of Soyuz MS-18 primary and the backup crews was held.

The launch of the upgraded launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1a carrying the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-18 is scheduled for April 9, 2021 from Pad 31 of the Baikonur launch Site.
