Crews of Soyuz MS-18 held training sessions in Nauka module

March 26, 2021

Today the prime and backup crews of the Crew Transportation Spacecraft (CTS) Soyuz MS-18 held training sessions in Nauka module which currently undergoes pre-launch processing at the processing facility of Area 254 of the Baikonur cosmodrome. Its launch towards the Russian Segment of the International Space Station (ISS) on the launch vehicle Proton-M is scheduled for the second half of this year.

The Multipurpose Laboratory Module Nauka (MLM) is a research module for the Russian Segment of the International Space Station developed by S.P. Korolev RSC Energia in cooperation with the Krunichev State Research and Production Space Center (joint design and manufacturing) to expand the functionality of the Russian Segment of the ISS.

In the course of the training session the crews familiarized themselves with the module external structure and layout as well as its interior layout.

The main crew of MTS Soyuz MS-18 consists of: Commander Oleg Novitskiy (Roscosmos), Flight Engineer 1 Petr Dubrov, and Flight Engineer 2 Mark Vande Hei (NASA). Their backups are Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov, Oleg Artemiev and NASA astronaut Anne McClain.
