Soyuz MS-18 Solar Array Check

March 22, 2021

At the integration and test facility of Area 254 of the Baikonur Launch Site preparations continue for the launch of the Manned Transportation Spacecraft (MTS) Soyuz MS-18. Today, specialists from RSC Energia and Space Center Yuzhny successfully completed a scheduled operation of check insolation for the solar arrays of the spacecraft power supply system.

A functional check of the solar array panels involves a standard deployment of photovoltaic sections and their artificial insolation with powerful lamps to take test measurements of parameters of the electric circuits of solar power converters. In addition, in the spacecraft, installation of special equipment for the descent vehicle and preparation of the crew personal equipment have been completed.

The launch of MTS Soyuz MS-18 with the crew consisting of participants in Expedition 65 to the International Space Station is scheduled for April 9, 2021 from the Baikonur Launch Site.
