Soyuz MS-17 Manned Spacecraft is ready for final assembly with the launch vehicle

At the Baikonur Launch Site, the ascent unit with the manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz S-17 was transported for final assembly of the integrated launch vehicle.

Today, specialists from RSC Energia and affiliated enterprises of Roscosmos performed a set of processing operations on loading and transporting by rail the spacecraft to the integration and test facility of the launch vehicle in Area 31.

The launch of the upgraded Soyuz 2.1a launch vehicle with Soyuz MS-17 to the International Space Station under the ISS-63/64 expeditions program is scheduled for October 14, 2020. The prime crew of Soyuz MS-17 consists of commander Sergei Ryzhikov (Roscosmos), flight engineer-1 Sergey Kud-Sverchkov (Roscosmos) and flight engineer-2 Kathleen Rubins (NASA). Additionally, Soyuz S-17 shall deliver to the ISS 173 kg of payloads. They consist of space experiment kits and biomedical research packages, consumables and photo equipment set, personal hygiene items and cosmonaut preferences, as well as standard food ratios and 10 kg of fresh produce.
