Soyuz MS-17 solar array check

September 23, 2020

At the processing facility of Area 254 of the Baikonur launch site preparations continue for the launch of the Manned Transportation Spacecraft Soyuz MS-17. Today, specialists from RSC Energia and Space Center Yuzhny successfully completed a scheduled operation of check insolation for the solar arrays of the spacecraft power supply system.

A functional check of the solar array panels involves a standard deployment of photovoltaic sections and their artificial insolation with powerful lamps to take test measurements of parameters of the electric circuits of solar power converters. In addition to this, in the spacecraft, installation of special equipment for the descent vehicle and preparation of the crew personal equipment have been completed.

The launch of Soyuz MS17 with the crew consisting of participants in expeditions 63 and 64 to the International Space Station is scheduled for October 17, 2020 from the Baikonur launch site.
