Prelaunch Processing of Manned Transportation Spacecraft Soyuz S-17

September 10, 2020

At the Baikonur launch site, RSC Energia specialists continue operations according to the preflight test schedule of the manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-17.

After delivery to the launch site, Soyuz MS-17 stayed in a storage mode at the integration and test facility in Area 254 of the Baikonur launch site. On August 4, the spacecraft was activated and installed in the processing facility for planned operations to be performed in the initial ground processing phase. At present the spacecraft is undergoing stand-alone tests, successfully completing a cycle of check activations of the service hardware and tests of onboard systems, diagnostics of electronic computing and radio-navigation equipment. The next Soyuz MS-17 processing phase will comprise a leak test of the spacecraft compartments in the vacuum chamber of the integration and test facility in Area 254.

The launch of Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle carrying Soyuz-MS-17 to the International Space Station is scheduled for October 14, 2020 from the Baikonur launch site. The spacecraft shall deliver the ISS-63/64 Expedition participants to the ISS.
