Cargo Transportation Spacecraft Progress MS-15 launched from the Baikonur Launch Site

July 23, 2020

Today cargo transportation spacecraft Progress MS-15 developed and manufactured by RSC Energia was launched from Baikonur Launch Site under the program of the 76th resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Medium capacity launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1a carrying logistics spacecraft Progress MS-15 lifted off from Launch Pad No.31 at 17:26:21 Moscow time. In 8 minutes 49 seconds after the lift-off contact the spacecraft separated from the upper stage block and entered a planned orbit. The solar arrays were deployed according to the timeline. In the very first earth orbit Progress MS-15 proceeded with a super-fast two-orbit autonomous rendezvous profile to approach the ISS under control of specialists from the Lead Operational Control Team of the Russian Segment (RS) of the International Space Station working at MCC. The spacecraft docking with the Pirs module of the ISS RS is expected to take place at 20:47:52 Moscow time.

Progress MS-15 shall deliver to the ISS 620 kg of propellant, 46 kg of compressed gases, as well as 1,43 tons of cargo including 420 liters of water of Rodnik system, consumables for the ISS onboard systems and devices for space experiments, clothing and sanitary and hygienic materials, and food for the current Expedition crewmembers.
