Progress MS-15 solar array check complete

July 6, 2020

At the integration and test facility of Area 254 of the Baikonur Launch Site processing operations are in good progress for the launch of the cargo transportation spacecraft Progress MS-15. Specialists from RSC Energia and Space Center Yuzhny completed a scheduled operation of check insolation for the solar arrays of the spacecraft onboard power supply system.

A functional check of the solar array panels involves a standard deployment of photovoltaic sections and their insolation with powerful lamps to check the efficiency of the solar energy conversion to electrical power. In addition, test engineers performed a leak test of the hydraulic line of the Rodnik water supply system and completed a nominal disinfection of the spacecraft cargo compartment.

The launch of launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1a carrying the cargo transportation spacecraft Progress MS-16 to the International Space Station is scheduled for July 23, 2020 from the Baikonur Launch Site under the 76th mission of the ISS re-supply program.
