Soyuz MS-16 Crews Performed a Check Inspection of the Spacecraft

April 3, 2020

The participants of the forthcoming expedition to the International Space Station (ISS) performed the second fit check, i.e. check inspection of Soyuz MS-16 manned transport spacecraft in the launch configuration at the Baikonur Launch Site.

The prime and backup crewmembers performed a final check of the spacecraft readiness, familiarized with the payloads and operating equipment accommodation in the descent module and habitation compartment, as well as checked functionality of the Soyuz MS-16 onboard systems.

The launch of the upgraded Soyuz 2.1a launch vehicle with Soyuz MS-16 to the International Space Station is scheduled for April 9, 2020. The prime crew of Soyuz MS-16 consists of commander Anatoly Ivanishin (Roscosmos), flight-engineer 1 Ivan Vagner (Roscosmos) and flight engineer 2 Christopher Cassidy (NASA). Their backups are Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov, Andrey Babkin and NASA astronaut Stephen Bowen.
