Soyuz MS-16 spacecraft is mated to the adapter section

March 30, 2020

At the Baikonur launch site the pre-launch processing of the integrated launch vehicle with Soyuz MS-16 manned transportation spacecraft for launch scheduled on April 9 is being continued.

In accordance with the processing schedule, the specialists from RSC Energia and specialized enterprises of Roscosmos performed a set of processing operations on mating the Soyuz MS-16 to the adapter section of the launch vehicle upper stage block. The adapter section makes part of the ascent unit and ensures a mechanical coupling of the spacecraft with the payload fairing, as well as integration of Soyuz MS-16 command interface into the Soyuz-2.1a onboard control system.

The launch of the launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1 carrying Soyuz MS-16 to the ISS is scheduled for April 9, 2020 from the Baikonur launch site under the ISS-62/63 Expeditions to the ISS.
