Soyuz MS-16 solar array check

March 20, 2020

At the processing facility of Area 254 of the Baikonur cosmodrome preparations continue for the launch of the Crew Transportation Spacecraft (CTS) Soyuz MS-16. Yesterday, specialists from RSC Energia and Space Center Yuzhny successfully completed a scheduled operation of Check Insolation for the solar arrays of the spacecraft power supply system.

A functional check of the solar array panels involves a standard deployment of photovoltaic sections and their artificial insolation with powerful lamps to take test measurements of parameters of the electric circuits of solar power converters. In addition to this, completed were installation of special equipment into the descent vehicle and preparation of the crew personal equipment.

The launch of the upgraded launch vehicle Soyuz-2.1a carrying the crew transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-16 to the International Space Station is scheduled for April 9, 2020 from the Baikonur launch site.
