Victor Blagov passed away

April 8, 2019

 April 8, 2019, passed away Victor Dmitrievich Blagov.

He dedicated his life to space. Milestones in his life are the milestones in the development of space industry.

Victor Blagov joined Energia in 1959 after graduating from Moscow Aviation Institute. He rose through the ranks from an engineer to deputy head of division/head of department. He took part in designing crew transportation spacecraft Vostok and Voskhod, in preapations for and conduct of the first joint international mission of Soyuz-19 and Apollo spacecraft.

V.D. Blagov was one of the managers in charge of the missions of orbital space stations Salyut and Mir, took an active part in joint activities with the US space agency NASA under Mir-Shuttle and Mir-NASA programs.

Victor Blagov is one of the founding fathers of the science of Planning and Real-time Control of Manned Space Missions. He raised several generations of top grade specialists who now support the missions of present-day spacecraft and the International Space Station.

In recent years V.D. Blagov has been providing scientific and technical coordination of activities under the program of the International Space Station, and drawing up proposals on improving the methods and techniques of controlling the missions of vehicles that were being developed at company.

For his highly professional and effective work V.D. Blagov was awarded the order of Badge of Honor, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the State Prize and the honorary title of Honored Mechanical Engineer of the Russian Federation, received numerous awards from Roscosmos and RSC Energia.

The cherished memory of Victor Blagov will stay in our hearts forever.
