RSC Energia specialists took part in Quantoriada

December 18, 2018

The International Competition of Children's Engineering Teams was held in St. Petersburg, organized by the Foundation for New Forms of Education Development - the federal operator of the network of children's technoparks Quantorium. Specialists of RSC Energia were organizers of one of the subject trends - tracks. This year the competition brought together more than 400 participants from almost all regions of our country, as well as guests from China, Iran, Belarus who competed in various nominations.

The organizer of the Space station track was Ilya Ovchinnikov, RSC Energia employee. The jury and track experts included Alexander Kaleri, cosmonaut and Head of the Corporation Flight Space Center, Energia engineers Anton Pozharnitsky and Andrei Tulupov and also Dmitry Shishkin, Director of the Structural Design Department of State Corporation Roscosmos, Nikolai Mullin and Anastasia Ilyina – The Skoltech Space Center, etc.

Before participating in the final part of the competition all teams went through the correspondence selection phase in which they demonstrated an operating prototype and told about their developments. Thus, the “space station” developers needed to make a model of the space orbital station module with operating onboard systems — the pressurized unit transmitting a maximum of telemetry parameters and controlling the gas composition of the internal atmosphere. In the correspondence tour 394 teams from 63 regions of the Russian Federation and seven countries of the world took part.

In the final guys from Karelia, Khabarovsk Territory, Samara Region, Chuvashia, Moscow, Leningrad Region, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region received an additional assignment and performed it autonomously without participation of tutors. Of 10 teams that passed the preliminary phase not all teams could develop an absolutely pressurized unit, but they all managed to defend their work.

The International competition of children's engineering teams is a competition for young scientists and engineers, which has already been held for the third time. The main goal of the competition is to identify gifted children and stimulate them to study under the basic professional educational programs.
