RSC Energia Project is among the best projects in educational shift «Grand Challenges»

July 26, 2018

The Sirius Educational Center (Sochi) completed the educational project shift "Grand Challenges" for schoolchildren. By the judges estimate, educational project "Advanced Spacesuit with AR-interface" presented by RSC Energia became a winner in the area of Space Technologies.
A team of schoolchildren under the supervision of the Corporation specialists Arutyun Kiviryan and Sergey Urvantsev presented their "Spacesuit AR" (a combination of words "spacesuit" and English Augmented Reality) intended for on-planet missions. The spacesuit has an upgraded control system: it is equipped with a remote control with a touch screen on the wrist, and the Augmented Reality interface makes it possible to display a large amount of information inside the helmet covered with a special film. The project experts were Mark Serov, Ilya Ovchinnikov and Artem Knyazev.
The Corporation specialists also delivered a number of lectures and taught master classes for the shift participants. An engineer of the EVA, flight maintenance and cargo flow department, Artem Knyazev told the children about the life support systems for spacecraft and EVA spacesuits. The head of the flight and space center, cosmonaut Alexander Caleri gave a lecture on training for a spaceflight and acted as an expert during the 8th Space lesson with the participation of Sirius pupils, CanSat-Energia project teams, Quantorium of the Science City of Korolev and Tomsk Lyceum No.8.
On July 23 Sirius EC was visited by Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Roscosmos, Nikolai Sevastyanov, First Deputy Director General and Sergey Romanov, Acting Director General of RSC Energia.

Guests together with the head of the Talent and Success Foundation (founder of Sirius EC) Elena Shmeleva examined the exhibits and laboratories of the Park of Science and Art, and then took part in the "Lesson from Space". At the lesson the shift participants were able to ask interesting questions to the head of the State Corporation, as well as communicate with cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Sergei Prokopiev being in orbit, who detailed about the upcoming launch of two nanosatellites SiriusSat-1 and SiriusSat-2 built in Sirius EC during the last project shift. The spacecraft was launched on July 10 with Progress MS-09 cargo vehicle. Their launch into space is planned for August during the planned extravehicular activity of the ISS Russian Segment cosmonauts.
During this visit a cooperation agreement was signed between Roscosmos and the Talent and Success Foundation. Its goal is to create conditions for gifted children and the youth by the parties and assist them in further development. The organizations intend to establish systematic work on holding Olympics, intellectual and creative competitions, as well as activities aimed at promoting scientific knowledge.
- There is nothing more exciting than space both in technical, engineering, design, and romantic context. Dear friends, space will be ours!"- Dmitry Rogozin addressed the participants of the project shift.

The head of the State Corporation said that the Doors Open Day of Roscosmos will be held in September, where the Sirius Educational Center will be invited as a partner. Within the framework of this event a visit to RSC Energia will take place.

It is to be recalled that the Cooperation Agreement between RSC Energia and the Talent and Success Foundation was concluded in March last year, and in July 2017 the Corporation for the first time took part in the project shift “Grand Challenges” of the Sirius Educational Center, where presented a comprehensive educational program for development of the "Flying test bed of the Lunar takeoff and landing complex LTLC)." Within the partnership a full-size mockup of the Buran orbiter previously located at RSC Energia premises was transferred to the Sirius Educational Center.
