Today, May 14, an honored veteran of the Corporation, Boris Alexandrovich Sokolov turned 95. His whole life is inextricably linked with Energia, with scientific and practical work on the development of engines, propulsion and power-generating systems.

Boris Sokolov’s working career began in 1947. Upon graduating from the motor engineering faculty of the Moscow Aviation Institute he was assigned to the Research Institute 1 (NII-1) of the Ministry of Aviation Industry of the USSR, but six years later, at the invitation of S.P.Korolev, he became an employee of Special Design Bureau 1 (OKB-1) and has not changed his place of employment ever since. During his 71 years of active professional activity Boris Sokolov he followed the long and arduous path of the Scientist and the Designer, and today he is a universally recognized scientist of high academic standing, whose work contributed to the development and practical implementation of whole areas of rocket propulsion engineering.

He is the author of many classical design solutions, which have since been in wide use in rocket engineering..
