The spacecraft delivered ROSCOSMOS cosmonaut Fedor YURCHIKHIN and NASA astronaut Jack FISHER to the ISS.
Today, on April 20, manned transport vehicle of the new modification Soyuz ÌÑ-04 with the crew of the next long-duration expedition was successfully put into the low Earth orbit and is headed for the International Space Station (ISS).

On April 19, 2017, the main and the backup crews of the manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-04 held a traditional press conference at the Baikonur launch site. Cosmonauts and astronauts answered questions from journalists and told about the plans for the upcoming mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Prior to the press conference the State Commission approved the crews of Soyuz MS-04. The main crew consists of a Roscosmos cosmonaut Fyodor YURCHIKHIN and NASA astronaut Jack FISHER. Their backup are a Roscosmos cosmonaur Sergei RYAZANSKY and a NASA astronaut Randolph BRESNIK.
Today, on April 19, the State Commission at the Baikonur launch site approved the main and the backup crew assignments of the manned transport vehicle of the new series Soyuz ÌS-04 and confirmed the readiness of the integrated space launch system Soyuz-FG/Soyuz ÌS-04 and the ground infrastructure for the launch under the ISS program.

Launched on April 17, 2017 on the basis of Roscosmos Corporate Academy is the training program for the personnel pool of Russia’s rocket and space industry – broadening their skills will be 189 reservists from 36 companies in the industry.

Opening the program, the first deputy general director of the State Corporation Roscosmos Alexander Ivanov noted that there is a dearth of personnel – projects are hindered by the lack of efficient mangers at the companies: “We need new technologies, technologies of the future. To develop them is your task”, - said he. The deputy general director of State Corporation Roscosmos for rocket and space industry Yuri Vlasov, in his turn, pointed out that in order to carry out high-priority tasks that companies face today, it is imperative, in as short a time as possible, to train a new generation of managerial personnel, and, on the whole, to develop a new managerial culture.
Today, on April 17, medium capacity launch vehicle Soyuz-FG with new-series manned vehicle Soyuz MS-04 was carried out from the integration and test facility and erected at the launch pad of Launch Site No.1 “Gagarin’s launch pad” of Baikonur cosmodrome.

Specialists from RSC Energia and other ROSCOSMOS enterprises involved in the prelaunch processing are performing final processing operations at the launch site. Prelaunch tests of the rocket and space complex systems and assemblies are being conducted, the onboard systems and ground equipment interfaces are being checked.

What we have currently implemented is the capability, at the earliest development stages of any space hardware, be it spacecraft for manned space flight, development of new advanced modules, implementation of the lunar program, to do it today in a small room recreating this or that world, this or that vehicle”, said Solntsev.
Today, on April 15 the technical management and State Commission representatives at Baikonur cosmodrome issued a decision about the readiness of the rocket and space complex (RSC) consisting of transport manned vehicle (TMV) of a new modification Soyuz ÌS-04 and launch vehicle (LV) Soyuz FG for roll-out and installation on the launch pad.

Today the final assembly of the rocket space complex was successfully completed. During the day the nose assembly with the vehicle was mated to the third stage of the launch vehicle in the launch vehicle integration and test facility (LV ITF).
Today, on April 14 manned transport vehicle of the new modification Soyuz ÌÑ-04 developed and built by RSC Energia as a part of the nose assembly was transported for final assembly with launch vehicle Soyuz FG.

The transportation was done by rail. A series of processing final assembly operations is planned on April 15 in the launch vehicle integration and test facility (LV ITF) within the prelaunch processing under the International Space Station (ISS).

The vehicle undocked from the ISS Mini Research Module (MRM2) Poisk at 10:57:27 Moscow time. The touch-down of the descent module occurred at 14:21 Moscow time to the south east of Dzhezkazgan in Kazakhstan.

Georgy Grechko Passed Away

RSC Energia delegation once again paid a working visit to the Sirius Center in the framework of which schoolchildren of the aerospace class opened in gymnasium No.11, Korolev, under the patronage of the Corporation, got acquainted with the educational and sports infrastructure of the Center and also took part in the master class for practical use of project activities. This July the boys will return here as participants of the space shift which will be held with the support of RSC Energia.
Today, April 8, 2017, at the age of 86, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, pilot-cosmonaut Georgy Mikhaylovich Grechko passed away.

Georgy Grechko was born May 25, 1931 in Leningrad. In 1955 he graduated with honors from the Leningrad Institute of Mechanics, and took a job at OKB-1. In 1966 he enrolled in the cosmonaut corps. Georgy Grechko flew 3 space missions with a total duration of 134 days 20 hours 32 minutes 58 seconds and made one spacewalk lasting 1 hour 28 minutes.

The Center will allow engineers and technologists with 3D glasses to enter a virtual spacecraft or module and work in artificially created digital space using the latest technologies.

On April 3, 1966 the Luna-10 automatic station entered lunar orbit and injected the world’s first artificial lunar satellite. This allowed people to see the backside of the natural earth satellite.

The launch of the Luna – 10 automatic station was performed on March 21, 1966 by the Molniya-M launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The spacecraft was developed and manufactured by S.A. Lavochkin NPO.
On April 2, 2017 before the start of work of the 33rd Space Symposium in Colorado Springs (USA) a solemn opening ceremony of the bust of Yuri GAGARIN was held in the Charity Space Foundation in honour of the first cosmonaut of the Earth planet.
The ROSCOSMOS delegation took part in the solemn ceremony: General Director Igor KOMAROV, Deputy General Director for International Cooperation Sergei SAVELIEV, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia, Executive Director for Manned Space Programs Sergei KRIKALEV and also General Consul of the Russian Federation Sergei PETROV and representatives of the Russian Embassy.
