On coming out the book entitled "S.P. Korolev. His Life and Scientific Work Encyclopedia"

S.P. Korolev. His Life and Scientific Work Encyclopedia

The book entitled "S.P. Korolev. His Life and Scientific Work Encyclopedia" was published. It is dedicated to Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, an outstanding scientist, the founder of practical cosmonautics, General Designer of rocket-space technology, the founder and first Head of OKB-1 (S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia now), the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Twice Hero of Socialist Labour, USSR State Prize winner.

"S.P. Korolev's Scientific Biography" is presented in this publication which addresses his creative development aimed to build first airframes, airplanes, glide rockets, rocket-space technology products and gives the list of the developments carried out with his participation and/or under his lead.

Chapter "Building the Rocket Complexes and Systems, the Basis for National Anti-Nuclear Missile Shield, Launch Vehicles and Stages" covers the materials on the first fixed and mobile land complexes, pioneer experimental and geophysical rockets, complexes of ballistic missiles, launched from submarines; strategic intercontinental thermonuclear delivery vehicles, famous rocket R-7 and launch vehicles Sputnik, Vostok, Voskhod, Molnia, Soyuz, Stages E, I, L.

Next Chapter "Building Unmanned Vehicles and Interplanetary Stations" introduced readers to the first artificial Earth satellite which started space age of humanity; unmanned spacecraft launched to Moon, Venus and Mars; scientific satellites Elektron, space reconnaissance satellites Zenit and pioneer communication satellites Molnia.

Chapter "Building Manned Space Vehicles" focuses on creating space vehicles Vostok and Voskhod which were flown by first cosmonauts and for the first time used to perform EVA flight; developing and manufacturing Soyuz space vehicle and building on a large scale of activities under manned Moon programs L1 and N1-L3.

Chapter "Development of S.P. Korolev's Scientific Heritage" covers the papers written by the scientists, RSC Energia employees, about development of S.P. Korolev's scientific heritage.

The Supplements give information about development of OKB-1 structure; transfer to the subcontractors of OKB-1 developments and their involvement in OKB-1 lines of activity; the First Chief Designers' Board established by S.P. Korolev; associated and follower who became heads of scientific departments; first cosmonauts; S.P. Korolev's relatives. Also the memoirs of his contemporaries the list of S.P. Korolev's main publications, etc. are presented.

The book uses photographic materials and illustrations from the archives of S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, the family archive of N.S. Koroleva; the photographs made available by courtesy of the authors of the memoirs, Memorial House-Museum after S.P. Korolev; organizations and institutions from Russia, the Ukraine, Bulgaria, as well as some photomaterials from official sites of the key rocket-space industry enterprises.

Circulation is 5000 copies, volume is 704 pages.


The Book is available only in kiosk at the enterprise Museum (for cash for natural persons) at the price of 1 300 rubles.
