The initial flight program phase of the new generation earth remote sensing spacecraft is completed

The initial flight program phase of the earth remote sensing spacecraft (ERS SC) produced by S.P. Korolev RSC Energia in the interests of a foreign Customer, and injected into a near-earth orbit on April 16, 2014 is completed.

The SC onboard service systems, i.e. onboard control complex, service channel control system, power supply system, propulsion system, thermal control system were tested in full scope. All operation parameters of the onboard systems are consistent with the design values.

The onboard payload - optoelectronic observation system and high-rate radio link system were tested. Various survey modes were implemented with transmission of the obtained images to the fixed image ground segment facilities. The image characteristics meet the requirements set forth in the SC technical specifications.

The SC onboard systems operate normally, its flight tests are in progress.

For reference:

A new generation ERS SC built by S.P. Korolev RSC Energia based on a general-purpose space bus of in-house design is intended for operation within the space system which was also developed by the Corporation and deployed at the Customer premises. The space system consists of a mission control center, control ground segment, fixed and mobile image ground segments delivered to the Customer on the turnkey approach. SC surveys the Earth surface in a visible and near infrared bands with a high spatial resolution in the panchromatic mode up to 1 m and multispectral mode up to 4 m. The SC launch weight is 1080 kg, the on-orbit life is at least 10 years.
