The first phase of training of Radio Research Institute (RRI) and RSC Energia specialists arranged by EADS Astrium and FSUE SC within the implementation of contracts for development of Express-AM4R and Express-AM7 satellites is completed

As reported at the web-site of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Space communication" (SESC), from July 23 to July 27, 2012 an introductory course of theoretical training of FSUE RRI and OAO RSC Energia specialists within the implementation of contracts for development of Express-AM4R and Express-AM7 satellites was carried out at SESC headquarters in Moscow via video teleconference with the headquarters of European company EADS Astrium in Toulouse (France).

The accessibility of Russian enterprises to EADS Astrium technologies, and training of Russian specialists on the basis of this European group company are provided for by a joint Decision of Mincomsvyaz of Russia and Roscosmos, and implemented under contracts for development of Express-AM4R and Express-AM7 spacecraft which were signed at the end of 2011 between SESC and EADS Astrium.

The training and technology transfer activities are scheduled for a timeframe until autumn 2014 in the following basic areas, i.e. theoretical training, bus design, payload design, payload and spacecraft assembly, integration and testing. In the first phase of training FSUE RRI and AOA RSC Energia specialists will have to study management plans and standards for modern communication satellite development projects being used in the European space industry, receive training and acquire necessary knowledge and practical experience in designing, integration, validation and testing of modern payloads and telecommunication spacecraft, train skills for designing modern communication satellites including spacecraft with a payload from 4 to 7 kW based on OAO RSC Energia-produced upgraded platform.

On-the-job training will be arranged directly at EADS Astrium premises in Europe. About 30 Russian specialists will receive on-the-job training.
