Technical Research on ISS Russian Segment

KAP 12 Experiment


KAP 12 experiment forms part of the research program performed by South Korean astronaut Yi So Yeon under KAP Project on the ISS RS. The research program is preparation and implemented on order by the South Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).



Objective:

Verification of new non-volatile memory technology.

Task:

Comparison of two types of memory elements, i.e. NAND Flash memory and FRAM Flash memory.

Science Hardware Used:

  • Memory test unit with four memory chips being tested (two chips of each type).
Memory test unit is a monoblock, which accommodates a basic board, test card, signal generator and self-contained power supplies. The test chip being tested is located on the basic board.
  • Self-contained power supply.

Flight Equipment Used:

  • Digital camera Nikon D2X.

Experiment Results:

Data on memory cards returned to ground.
