Technical Research on ISS Russian Segment

KAP 11 Experiment


KAP 11 experiment forms part of the research program performed by South Korean astronaut Yi So Yeon under KAP Project on the ISS RS. The research program is preparation and implemented on order by the South Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).



Objective:

Measurement of noise and identification of major noise sources on the ISS RS.

Tasks:

  • Measurement of noise level using a dedicated hardware making it possible to match noise measurement results with video image.
  • Determination of noise characteristics and major noise sources on the ISS RS.

Science Hardware Used:

NMI Kit containing:

  • Chamber module
    including a video camera and dynamic signal receiving equipment;
  • Acoustic probe;
  • USB-cable and BNC-cable.

Flight Equipment Used:

  • Laptop RSK2;
  • Digital camera Nikon D2X;
  • Camcorder Sony HVR-Z1J;
  • General-purpose bracket.

Experiment Results:

Data on a harddrive, as well as accompanying photo and video information on a flash card and video tape to be returned to ground.
