E-NOSE Experiment
Experiment E-NOSE forms part of the scientific research program performed by Italian Astronaut Roberto Vittori (ESA) on the ISS in the frame of
ENEIDE ISM Project. The European Space Agency is a customer of the preparation and
implementation of the research program.
Objective:
Demonstrate the technology of the electronic nose that detects odours.
Task:
Demonstration of the technology of E-nose capable to detect the presence of even small amount of gases released by the onboard euiqpment.
Used Science Hardware:
ENM pouch consisting of:
- ENM electronic unit;
- Reference probe tubes (2);
- Cables (3);
- ENM memory card;
- ENM video tape.
Flight Equipment Used:
- Laptop A31P (assembled with cables).
Support Facilities:
- Camera Nikon D1X;
- Camcorder DSR PD-150P.
Experiment Results:
Information on air quality in different locations on the ISS received automatically and recorded on a PCMCIA card and video tape.
