Human Life Research on ISS Russian Segment
BMI Experiment
BMI experiment is included in the Italian scientific and technological program Marco
Polo, which is a constituent part of the Russian Program for Implementation of Scientific and Technological Research Planned for the
Fourth Manned Expedition ISS-4.
Objective:
To demonstrate the serviceability of the Arterial Pressure Meter in space flight environment.
Tasks:
Taking measurements of cosmonaut's arterial pressure and heart rate.
Scientific Equipment Used:
- Arterial Pressure Meter kit:
- arterial pressure measuring unit;
- cuff;
- attachment belt;
- cuff case;
- return bag.
for automatic recording of arterial pressure and heart rate and displaying the value on the screen.
Flight Equipment Used:
Consumables:
- Video-cassette;
- Batteries;
- Court plaster.
Expected Results:
Demonstration of the ability of the portable device to measure cosmonaut's arterial pressure and heart rate during various activities in space flight environment.
In the future, the device can be used for various medical experiments or for standard medical examinations.
