Soyuz MS-15 solar array check complete

September 09, 2019

At the processing facility of Area 254 of the Baikonur launch site, employees of S.P.Korolev RSC Energia continue their work on the crew transportation spacecraft (CTS) Soyuz MS-15.

On September 5 the spacecraft solar arrays were checked out.

The sequence of operations to check out the solar arrays includes opening up a platform in the jig holding the spacecraft, removing protective panels from solar arrays and deploying them, after which special lamps are used to irradiate (“insolate”) the solar arrays. Upon completion of the checkout solar arrays were moved back to the stowed position and once again covered with protective panels.

The launch of the Soyuz MS-15 on the launch vehicle Soyuz-FG is scheduled for September 25, from the ‘Gagarin’s Launch Pad’ at the Baikonur launch site.
