Born on June 7, 1979 in Spokane, Washington.

Anne Charlotte McClain graduated from a private Catholic school in Spokane.
In 2002 she received a Master of Science degree, Mechanical Engineering, from the Military Academy in West Point.
In 2004 she received her Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.
In 2005 she received a Master of Science in International Security from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.
Since August 2011 she studied at the Command and Staff College of the U.S. Army.
In June 2013 Anne McClain completed training at the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.

HONOURS AND AWARD: Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal with Valor, two Air Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, Iraqi Campaign Medal with two Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Since 2002 he serves in the U.S. Army, passed flight training and was qualified as an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior scout/attack helicopter pilot. In July 2006 in the 2-nd battalion of the 6-th Cavalry Regiment, she participated in warlike operations in Iraq for 15 months, where served as Head of the Intelligence service of the battalion. She performed 216 combat flights of the total duration of about 850 hours. In autumn 2007 Anne McClain returned to the regiment location in Shofield Barrex of Hawaii and continued to serve as Head of the Intelligence service.
From June 2009 to May 2010 she served in Fort Rocker, Alabama, where first she passed special training for six months was qualified as an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilot-instructor. From May 2010 to August 2011 she served as commander of the 14-th Aviation Regiment Battalion 1 Detachment stationed in Fort Rocker.
By the time of her enrollment in the astronaut corps. she had a total flight time more than 2000 hours on 20 different types of helicopters and aircraft.

On June 17, 2013 Anne McClain was enrolled in NASA Astronaut Corps. (the 21-st selection) as a candidate for astronauts. In August 2013 she began to pass a course of basic general space training. Upon its completion on July 9, 2015 she received status of an active astronaut.
On June 6, 2017 Anne McClain began training at Yu.A. Gagarin CTC.
In June 2017 she in the preliminary crew passed training in actions after the spacecraft landing at the water surface the so-called water survival.

On November 30, 2017 by decision of the Interdepartmental Commission (IDC) she was approved and appointed as flight engineer-2 of the Soyuz MS-11 backup crew.
On January 19, 2018 in NASA press release 18-004 it was announced that she was appointed to the prime crew of the Soyuz MS-11 spacecraft and the backup crew of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft.
On January 31, 2018 Anne McClain in the preliminary crew with two CTC instructors took part in training in actions after landing in the wooded and marshy area in winter (winter survival).
