Crews of Soyuz MS-08 approved by the State Commission

Today, March 20, the State Commission at the Baikonur launch site approved the lists of the main and the backup crews of the crew transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-08 and confirmed the readiness of the integrated space launch system Soyuz-FG/Soyuz MS-08 and its ground infrastructure for the launch under the ISS program.

The main crew of Soyuz MS-08 consists of the spacecraft commander, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev, and flight engineers of the spacecraft Andrew J. Feustel and Richard R. Arnold.The backup crew includes the spacecraft commander, Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and the spacecraft flight engineer, NASA astronaut Nick Hague.

Upon completion of the State Commission session the members of the main and backup crews answered questions from Russian and foreign journalists at the traditional pre-flight press conference.

The roll-out of the launch vehicle Soyuz FG with Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft from the processing facility and its erection on the launch pad of Area 1 (“Gagarin’s launch pad”) of the Baikonur cosmodrome took place on March 19.

The launch of the Soyuz MS-08on the launch vehicle Soyuz-FG is scheduled for March 21, 2018 from Area No.1 (“Gagarin’s launch pad”) of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
