Soyuz MS-03 space vehicle is fueled with propellant components and compressed gasses

November 4, 2016

RSC Energia specialists successfully performed fueling of the new series manned transport vehicle (MTV) Soyuz MS-03 with propellant components and compressed gases at Baikonur Cosmodrome.

After fueling, the vehicle was delivered to the spacecraft Assembly and Testing Facility (SC ATF) and installed in the assembly jig for further prelaunch operations.

The launch of Soyuz MS-03 carrying the crew of the next long-duration tour to the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled on November 17, 2016 from the Baikonur cosmodrome.

ROSCOSMOS cosmonaut Oleg NOVITSKY, ESA astronaut Thomas PESQUET and NASA astronaut Peggy WHITSON are prime crewmembers of the ISS-50/51. ROSCOSMOS cosmonaut Fedor YURCHIKHIN, NASA astronaut Jack FISHER and ESA astronaut Paolo NESPOLI are their backup crewmembers.

Soyuz MS new modification vehicle was developed as a result of deep upgrade of Soyuz TMA. It is designed to deliver crews of up to three crewmembers and associated cargo to the International Space Station, as well as their return to the Earth. When attached to the ISS, the vehicle also serves as a crew rescue vehicle and is kept in constant readiness for urgent crew descent to the Earth.
