Expedition 39/40 (ISS-39/40)

MAIN TASKS OF THE INCREMENT
IN THE ISS-39 PHASE
(March 11 - May 14, 2014)

  • Launch of two ISS-39/40 Russian crewmembers and one NASA crewmember by Soyuz TMA-12M vehicle;
  • Docking of Soyuz TMA-12M vehicle to Mini Research Module Poisk (MRM2);
  • Final unloading, loading and undocking of Progress M-22M cargo vehicle;
  • Docking of Progress M-23M cargo vehicle to Module Pirs (1);
  • Partial unloading of Progress M-23M cargo vehicle;
  • Docking of Dragon SpX-3 to Node2-Nadir using SSRMS manipulator and unloading;
  • Performance of one EVA from the American Segment;
  • Undocking and repeated docking of Progress M-21M cargo vehicle to SM IC for testing new measuring relative motion parameters system Kurs-NA;
  • Operational support for loading and undocking of Soyuz TMA-11M vehicle from Mini Research Module Rassvet (MRM1) (return to the Earth of three ISS-37/38/39 crewmembers);
  • Support of the Station functionality;
  • Performance of the science and application research program and experiments;
  • Onboard photographic and video recording of the ISS RS flight history and and work under the symbolic activity program.

The ISS-39 crew consists of 3 persons (March 11 - 28, 2014), 6 persons (March 28 - May 14, 2014).

IN THE ISS-40 PHASE
(May 14 - September 11, 2014)

  • Loading and undocking of Dragon SpX-3 vehicle from Node-2-Nadir using SSRMS manipulator;
  • Launch of one ISS-40/41 Russian crewmember, one NASA crewmember and one ESA crewmember by Soyuz TMA-13M vehicle;
  • Docking of Soyuz-13M vehicle to Mini Research Module Rassvet (MRM1);
  • Loading and undocking of Progress M-21M vehicle from SM IC;
  • Docking of Cygnus Orb-2 to Node2-Nadir using SSRMS manipulator and unloading;
  • Final unloading, loading and undocking of Progress M-23M vehicle from Module Pirs (1);
  • Docking of Progress M-24M vehicle to Module Pirs (1);
  • Partial unloading of Progress M-24M vehicle;
  • Docking of ATV-5 to SM IC and partial unloading;
  • Loading and undocking Cygnus Orb-2 vehicle from Node-2-Nadir using SSRMS manipulator;
  • Operational support for loading and undocking of Soyuz TMA-12M vehicle from Mini Research Module Poisk (MRM2) (return to the Earth of three ISS-39/40 crewmembers);
  • Support of the Station functionality;
  • Performance of two EVAs from the Russian Segment;
  • Performance of the science and application research program and experiments;
  • Onboard photographic and video recording of the ISS RS flight history and work under the symbolic activity program.

The ISS-40 crew consists of 3 persons (May 14-29, 2014), 6 persons (May 29 - September 11, 2014).
