Experiment E-NOSE forms part of the scientific research program performed by Italian Astronaut Roberto Vittori (ESA) on the Russian Segment of the ISS in the frame of ENEIDE ISM Project. The European Space Agency is a customer of the preparation and implementation of the research program.

USED SCIENCE HARDWARE:

ENM pouch consisting of

• ENM electronic unit
• Reference probe tubes (2)
• Cables (3)
• ENM memory card
• ENM video tape

USED SERVICE EQUIPMENT:

• Laptop A31P (assembled with cables)

SUPPORT FACILITIES:

• Camcorder DSR PD-150P.
• Camera Nikon D1X.

PURPOSE:

Demonstrate the technology of the electronic nose that detects odours.

OBJECTIVE:

Demonstration of the technology of E-nose capable to detect the presence of even small amount of gases released by the onboard euiqpment.

EXPERIMENT RESULTS:

Information on air quality in different locations on the ISS received automatically and recorded on a PCMCIA card and video tape.
