FIS EXPERIMENT

Experiment FIS is included in the program of research activities to be performed by Malaysian angkasawan Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie onboard the ISS Russian Segment in the framework of ANGKASA MSM Project. The experiment is performed under the Malaysian National Program.


USED SCIENCE HARDWARE:

  • FIS Kit
    with Malaysian food (nine types of food);
  • FIS Logbook
    is a score sheet with a list of parameters (sensations: flavor, taste, texture, freshness, spice, sweetness and general acceptability), by which the food will be evaluated.

CREW SUPPORT EQUIPMENT:

  • Camcorder Sony HVR-Z1 (or Sony DSR PD-150P);
  • Digital camera Nikon D2X (or Nikon D1X)
    for photo and video recording of the process of food tasting by the Malaysian Angkasawan
 

PURPOSE:

Compare the sensory evaluation score under two different conditions, on earth and in the ISS under near-zero gravity.

OBJECTIVE:

Tasting of Malaysian food and writing down the sensory evaluation score in the score sheet.

EXPERIMENT RESULTS:

Information on tasting recorded in the FIS sensory score sheets, on flash card and videotape.
