USED SCIENCE HARDWARE:
Biorisk hardware including:

|
|
OBJECTIVE:
Acquisition of new data on possible manifestations
(boundaries) of phenotypic adaptation and genotypic
changes in bacterial and fungus associations forming
a typical microbiota of structural materials used
in space technology.
TASKS:
Accommodation and exposure of "passive"
samples of structural materials and "microorganisms
- substrates" systems inside the ISS Service
Module.
EXPECTED RESULTS:
- Prediction of resistance of space technology
materials to microbiological factor and development
of recommendations to mitigate the risk of microbiological
damage.
- Assessment of impact of cyclic changes of the
Solar activity to characteristics of bacterial and
fungus flora with regard to factors of phenotypic
and genotypic variability, resistance factors and
aggressive properties.
- Assessment of fundamental capability to maintain
viability of microorganisms on long-term space exposure
(as compared with the Earth-to-Mars flight).
