THEBAS experiment is a part of the science research program to be performed aboard the ISS RS by Pedro Duque, ESA astronaut of Spanish nationality in the frame of the SSM SERVANTES Project. The European Space Agency is a customer for the preparation and implementation of the scientific program.

USED SCIENCE HARDWARE:

  for video camera attachment

PURPOSE:

Study of the effect of interaction between the container and balls inside it when the system deviated from the state of rest is subjected to regular one-dimension oscillations. In addition to experiment under actual microgravity conditions, control experiments with similar hardware will be conducted on the ground (with a deviation normal to the force of gravity) to obtain a qualitative assessment of the gravity effect on such a system.

OBJECTIVES:

Video recording for educational purposes of behaviour of solid spherical bodies of different diameters in closed transparent containers.
