Main tasks of the increment:
- Launch of visiting crew participant Brazilian astronaut
Markos Caesar Pontes aboard the Soyuz TMA-8 manned
vehicle;
- Unloading of the Soyuz TMA-8 transport vehicle;
- transfer/acceptance of Soyuz vehicles during scheduled
replacement of Soyuz TMA-7 vehicle used as a rescue
vehicle within the ISS since October 3, 2005;
- implementation of the scientific research program on
the ISS under the BSM "CENTENARIO"
project (GOSUM,
DNARM,
SMEK,
NIP,
CEMEX,
WMHP,
SEEDS,
CHROPHYL),
as well as performance of activities on world community
information symbol manipulation (PR & Symbolic);
- maintenance of the Soyuz transport vehicle systems;
- support of personal vital activities aboard the ISS;
- passage along the route of ISS urgent escape;
- return of hardware to the Soyuz TMA-7 transport vehicle;
- Return of the Brazilian astronaut Marcos C. Pontes
to Earth together with the ISS-12 crew in Soyuz
TMA-7 descent capsule.
