Educational & Humanitarian projects on ISS Russian Segment
TOP Experiment
Experiment TOP is included in the program of research activities to be performed by Malaysian angkasawan Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie onboard
the ISS Russian Segment in the framework of ANGKASA MSM Project. The experiment is
performed under the Malaysian National Program.
Objectives:
Video recording of demonstration of Top spinning in weightlessness to make a film and further familiarization of students and schoolchildren
with different behavior of bodies on Earth and in space.
Tasks:
Demonstrate gyroscopic effect in microgravity environment.
Science Hardware Used :
- TOP Kit, with demonstration elements to be used in the experimen:
- metal top;
- handle;
- string.
- PAV Kit with replaceable data carrier.
Crew Support Equipment:
- Camcoder Sony HVR-Z1 (or Sony PD-150P)
- Digital camera Nikon D2X (or Nikon D1X) for imagery of demonstration of gyroscopic effect
in space environment by the example of top spinning.
Experiment Results:
Photo and video information recorded on a videotape and flash card.
